Last Wednesday marked the beginning of the Passover holiday. Just like other members of the German Department, Liliane Weissberg is currently in home isolation, in her case as the Anna-Maria Kellen Fellow at the American Academy in Berlin. On April 8, she celebrated a seder for one. She was not alone, however. The event was documented for the American Academy by Mathias Buhrow (see photograph) and by Ellen Maria Gorrissen Fellow Kevin Jerome Everson, a well-known photographer and film maker focusing on the Black working class, and the legacy of Slavery in America. Everson produced a series, “Seder for One, American Academy in Berlin, April 8, 2020.” The photographs will enter the collection of the Jewish Museum in Berlin.
