Isabella Cuan ’18 Publishes Berlin Essay in the German Studies Review

In Fall 2017, Isabella Cuan, a BIBB major and Art History minor, took Liliane Weissberg’s class on “Berlin: History, Politics, Culture.” Isabella wrote a superb term paper on Third Reich photographic journalism.  In spring 2018, Isabella continued to work on the topic in an independent study, and after graduation, she did additional research on photography during the Third Reich. She transformed her term paper into an article, and “Looking at Hitler Looking: A Visual Reconstruction of Hitler’s Gaze on 1930s Berlin” has now been accepted for publication in one of the premier journals in German Studies, the German Studies Review.

Isabella has just completed an M.A. in Medical Writing at the University of Manchester, and will enter Medical School soon; she plans to combine the careers of physician and science writer.
