Last May, the Piper publishing house in Munich published a new volume of Thomas Meyer’s new edition of Hannah Arendt’s works, her Rahel Varnhagen: Lebensgeschichte einer deutschen Jüdin aus der Romantik.
Liliane Weissberg added an afterword to this edition. The book received a surprising endorsement by Elke Büdenbender, wife of Germany’s president Steinmeier, in Die Zeit. In the series “Was wir lesen” (What we are reading) she singles out this book: “Es begeistert mich, auch wenn—oder gerade weil—es anspruchscoll ist und einiges voraussetzt.” The book is already in its second printing.
