Academic job descriptions often indicate that the suitable candidate will demonstrate a “strong commitment to and excellence in teaching.” How does this phrase translate into the concrete components of a teaching portfolio, interview, and on-campus teaching demo? In this workshop, Dr. Melanie Adley will discuss how to:
- build a concrete and robust teaching profile from the start
- create materials (course proposals, sample syllabi, and a teaching philosophy) that best convey one’s research and teaching abilities and interests
- anticipate and respond to questions in the interview process
- demonstrate one’s teaching in an on-campus setting
*******Refreshments and snacks will be served*******
