Education

BA in English Literature with a minor in German Studies, UC Santa Barbara (2022)

Asia Cureton is a PhD student. She received her BA in English Literature with a minor in German Studies from UC Santa Barbara in March of 2022. Additionally, she serves as the assistant to the president at the Black German Heritage and Research Association (BGHRA), where she recently participated in the planning of the Black Germany and Beyond 2022 Conference. Her most recent research project, titled “The Intraracial Politics of Language in Toni Morrison’s The Bluest Eye and Its German Translation Sehr blaue Augen”, explores the complicated politics of language within the African American community and the translation of African American English into German.
